Dear Sukdev Singh Ji,

I hope this email finds you in better spirits than I imagine you must have been feeling when you composed your ‘farewell’ post, signing off from your ‘Let’s Rock The World!’ blog.

Lookin' for a new Job

Honestly, I wasn’t surprised to read this. Swimming against a strong tide.. Or in your case, seemingly, trying to almost single-handedly stop a retreating
Ebb tide, will eventually exhaust even a superman.. And you have been that brave voice, you have been every bit that ‘Superman’..

Still, I admit, I read your post with a sinking heart. As I read, I felt your despair, that ‘Oh, No!’ feeling. To me, since I first discovered your blog, your lone voice of clarity, purpose, reason, energy, possibility, hope and sanity ...  Was all it took to keep my spirits up and have hope.. I still have hope.

I think, though, that taking a break from the fight is a good move for you. You may come back with fresh ideas, reinvigorated. The future is wide open, for us to create.

By the way, I’ve been driven from Sikhnet (shocking...) .. I posted for a bit over a year as ‘karakara’ , and now I’ve worn out my welcome. The esteemed Moderators won’t publish my posts, and won’t offer an explanation.. Somewhere I crossed the line. But, I saw it coming, and frankly, I couldn’t care less. Time to move on.

If you should ever have so much time on your hands and be sufficiently bored enough, I believe I have a post that you might find interesting:

Well, I will not bother you in the future — but let me say, you were and are an inspiration. I have no doubt in my mind that I’ll see or hear something about you, and soon, as anyone who could say and do what you have already said and done, is a person in possession of an indomitable spirit.

Just a final thought: You fought against an ‘ebb tide’, as I metaphorically describe the ‘resigned mindset’ of the greater Sikh community, which by any measure is indeed in retreat , as you have perfectly described and lamented -- a religion, a community in retreat. Maybe, this is a natural phenomenon which neither you nor I fully understand,  governed by some type of laws, whether psychological, cultural, tribal, karmic .. I don’t know. Maybe there is a cycle, not just an ‘ebb’ of Sikhi, but an ‘Ebb and Flow’, and when Sikh flows back, who’s to say that what we’re seeing as an  ebb isn’t in fact only the retreating of the waters before the rush of the Tsunami? That’s my hope and dream. I’ll never give up on this dream.. It took me over 40 years to discover the magnificence of the teachings of The Gurus. How can it be that the greatest wisdom teachings ever inspired by God and put to word, song, and pen my men, can quietly fade away? I don’t believe it will. Just the opposite.

Take care, Sukdev, friend.

Fateh! I’m sure — Fateh.
